About the role:

  • As the Category Manager for Capital Goods, you will be responsible for overseeing expenditures in the sub-categories of Machinery & Equipment, Buildings & Infrastructure, and Maintenance, Repair, and Operations (MRO) across over 40 production sites worldwide, managing a portion of the global spending that totals €220 M.
  • The Category Manager for Capital Goods operates as an individual contributor and directly reports to the Global Category Lead, FMC. This role involves coordinating with local procurement teams as necessary to align resources, contributing to the development and implementation of category strategy, project design, and execution.
  • They are responsible for defining and then driving the strategy implementation for the assigned categories according to alignment of the impacted production plants, functions and the Global Category Lead. In this function they coordinate their strategic approach with key stakeholders and customers
  • Their key task is to continuously assess opportunities to deliver sustainable financial and non-financial value in the assigned category with short- mid- and long-term effectiveness.
  • To support this goal, they ensure effective engagement plans are in place with both internal stakeholders and external suppliers (existing and potential) in the assigned category.
  • The incumbent will be seen as one of the preeminent experts across FMC of Capital Goods sourcing and will also maintain an up to date undertaking of the Capital Goods supply market including:  supplier mix, cost and supply drivers innovation and sustainability initiatives.

Tasks:

  • Lead all strategic and some tactical activities for the assigned category in the respective regions
  • Lead and provide global oversight for the global category and its respective suppliers with a key are of low cost country sourcing
  • Negotiate, implement and manage contracts within assigned (sub-) categories under consideration of business lines’ targets and in tight cooperation with business lines’ management
  • Develop and implement global category strategies as well as category objectives per region under the authority of the Global Category Lead and supported by local procurement management
  • Monitor and evaluate market conditions impacting the assigned category and determine appropriate actions to benefit or protect FMC from any changes
  • Seek the strategic input of key stakeholders and align the category strategies accordingly
  • Drive the supplier selection and -development process together with other interface functions
  • Involve key suppliers in innovation processes
  • Initiate and implement cost reduction actions pertaining to the assigned commodities
  • Coordinate the tactical procurement processes, e.g. RfQ, negotiations, finalizing agreements etc. for the assigned categories

Requirements:

  • 5 years+ experience in Global Category Management of a manufacturing, multinational company.
  • Or, 5years+ experience in Global Manufacturing Engineering plus experience in Global Category Management of a manufacturing, multinational company.
  • Experienced in Best Cost Country Sourcing
  • Good strategic and tactical procurement skills
  • Excellent technical and methodical know how
  • Good leadership and communication skills
  • Proficient knowledge of material and production technology
  • Interactive
  • Emotional and social competence
  • Negotiation competencies
  • Good knowledge of manufacturing technologies
  • Ability to read and understand machine documentations (3D, 2D, BOM...)
  • Ability to read and understand 3rd party single component technical documentations
  • Basic understanding of machine and process validation
  • Understanding the impact of changing a single component of a machine on downstream processes
  • Multilingual (English mandatory)
