As a Clinic Manager at Fresenius Medical Care, you’ll manage the daily operations of our outpatient centers. More importantly, you’ll be the key driver in carrying out our mission: To deliver superior care that improves the quality of life of every patient, every day, setting the standard by which others in the health care industry are judged. This is accomplished by hiring, developing and inspiring a multi-disciplinary team, collaborating with physicians, tracking and delivering superior patient outcomes and monitoring regulatory and safety requirements. Strong management skills are required and prior direct patient care experience is needed for occasions when the team needs a helping hand.

Patient Care Technicians (PCTs) at Fresenius Medical Care support and collaborate with RNs to provide dialysis treatment to several patients at a time while maintaining the functionality of the clinic. This involves prepping and testing equipment, reviewing treatment sheets, and opening the clinic at 4am for first shift. PCTs have a combination of technical skills and genuine passion needed to develop deep relationships with patients and improve their quality of life. Qualified candidates have prior customer service, healthcare and direct patient care experience, and will have the opportunity to learn the discipline of dialysis.

Fresenius Medical Care nurses are on the front line of patient care, improving the quality of life of every patient, every day. That means providing dialysis care to 10-12 patients at any given time, and collaborating with our multi-disciplinary team to deliver a unique care plan to each one of them. This role is all about relationships and the bond you’ll create with patients and their families. Prior dialysis nursing experience is helpful, but many successful candidates come from a background in ICU, PCU and/or surgery.

Inpatient RNs at Fresenius Medical Care perform dialysis treatments on an acute patient population in a hospital setting, including ICU, ER, Rehab, and Med/Surg units. What makes this role truly unique is the level of autonomy you’ll enjoy. Inpatient nurses are specifically accountable for administering and assessing each patient’s treatment plan. And because dialysis is a critical treatment for many hospital procedures and health conditions, you’ll have the opportunity to work with a wide variety of patients. Ideal candidates possess leadership skills and independence needed to make quick decisions in a fast-paced environment. Must be capable of educating patients and providing exceptional customer service to our partners. Six months to one year of dialysis experience or some form of critical care nursing experience are also required.

System of Systems Architect (m/f/d) – Connected Health Platform

The System of Systems Architect is responsible for the end-to-end technical architecture of a connected healthcare platform spanning active medical devices, edge computing components, IoT connectivity, cloud services, data platforms and therapy management applications.

The role focuses on the architecture and integration of a distributed system of systems rather than on the architecture of an individual device or embedded subsystem. It requires strong expertise in cloud-native architecture, distributed systems, cybersecurity, data protection and modern communication patterns.

Your Responsibilities

  • Own and continuously evolve the end-to-end system-of-systems architecture of a connected healthcare platform consisting of active medical devices, edge computing, cloud services and enterprise integrations.

  • Define architectural boundaries, responsibilities, interfaces and data flows across hardware, firmware, embedded software, edge platforms, backend services, APIs and data platforms.

  • Design modular, scalable, resilient and maintainable architectures for globally deployed distributed systems.

  • Define cloud architecture principles and solution patterns for scalable, highly available and observable cloud-native applications.

  • Define communication and integration patterns, including REST APIs, synchronous and asynchronous communication, publish/subscribe messaging, event-driven architectures and message brokers.

  • Govern API design, versioning, lifecycle management and integration across products and development teams.

  • Ensure secure and reliable communication between medical devices, edge gateways, cloud services and external healthcare systems.

  • Drive Security-by-Design and Privacy-by-Design across the platform, including authentication, authorization, device identity, encryption, key and certificate management and secure software updates.

  • Define data architecture principles, canonical data models, data ownership, data governance and privacy requirements across distributed components.

  • Translate business, regulatory, clinical and stakeholder requirements into technical architectures and align solutions with Product Management, Engineering, Cybersecurity, Data Privacy and platform teams.

  • Integrate regulatory and quality requirements, including traceability, auditability, risk management and validation readiness, into the system architecture.

  • Perform system-level architecture and cybersecurity risk analyses and define appropriate mitigation measures.

  • Lead architecture reviews, technical governance and architectural decision-making across multiple products and engineering teams.

  • Create and maintain architecture documentation and models using appropriate methods such as architecture diagrams, UML, SysML and Architectural Decision Records.

  • Evaluate emerging technologies in cloud computing, edge computing, IoT, cybersecurity, data platforms and medical technology and translate them into sustainable technology roadmaps.

Your Profile

  • Successfully completed degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering or a comparable field, ideally with a Master's degree.

  • 10+ years of experience designing and evolving complex distributed software-intensive systems, including several years in a lead architecture role.

  • Proven experience designing architectures that span connected devices, edge platforms, cloud services, APIs and data platforms.

  • Strong practical experience with cloud architectures on Microsoft Azure, AWS or a comparable hyperscale cloud platform.

  • Deep understanding of distributed systems, cloud-native architectures, microservices, scalability, resilience, availability and observability.

  • Strong knowledge of common communication and integration patterns, including REST, OpenAPI, publish/subscribe, asynchronous messaging, event-driven architectures and message brokers.

  • Strong understanding of cybersecurity architecture, including authentication, authorization, OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, PKI, TLS, certificate management, key management and threat modeling.

  • Experience with Privacy-by-Design, data protection and the secure processing of sensitive or regulated data, knowledge on privacy regulations such as GDPR and HIPAA.

  • Experience with data architecture, data modeling, data ownership, data governance and API contracts.

  • Experience with containers, Kubernetes, CI/CD, Infrastructure as Code and modern software engineering practices.

  • Experience integrating embedded systems, connected devices or active medical devices with edge and cloud platforms.

  • Knowledge of relevant regulatory requirements and quality standards for medical devices and Software as a Medical Device is highly desirable.

  • Ability to communicate complex architectural concepts clearly to engineering teams, product stakeholders and senior management.

  • Analytical, structured and solution-oriented working style combined with strong communication and stakeholder management skills.

  • Excellent written and spoken German and English.

This role is intended for architects of complex distributed software platforms and connected ecosystems. Experience limited to the architecture of individual embedded systems, control units or isolated functional domains without substantial cloud, cybersecurity, integration and distributed-systems responsibility is not sufficient for this position.

“My goal is to make sure that our patients keep their mobility and quality of life. This goal is really personal for me. My own father always had really bad vasculature in his leg and never had access to the kind of care we offer — eventually he lost blood flow and mobility. Knowing what he went through makes me even more committed to our mission.”
