As a Clinic Manager at Fresenius Medical Care, you’ll manage the daily operations of our outpatient centers. More importantly, you’ll be the key driver in carrying out our mission: To deliver superior care that improves the quality of life of every patient, every day, setting the standard by which others in the health care industry are judged. This is accomplished by hiring, developing and inspiring a multi-disciplinary team, collaborating with physicians, tracking and delivering superior patient outcomes and monitoring regulatory and safety requirements. Strong management skills are required and prior direct patient care experience is needed for occasions when the team needs a helping hand.

Patient Care Technicians (PCTs) at Fresenius Medical Care support and collaborate with RNs to provide dialysis treatment to several patients at a time while maintaining the functionality of the clinic. This involves prepping and testing equipment, reviewing treatment sheets, and opening the clinic at 4am for first shift. PCTs have a combination of technical skills and genuine passion needed to develop deep relationships with patients and improve their quality of life. Qualified candidates have prior customer service, healthcare and direct patient care experience, and will have the opportunity to learn the discipline of dialysis.

Fresenius Medical Care nurses are on the front line of patient care, improving the quality of life of every patient, every day. That means providing dialysis care to 10-12 patients at any given time, and collaborating with our multi-disciplinary team to deliver a unique care plan to each one of them. This role is all about relationships and the bond you’ll create with patients and their families. Prior dialysis nursing experience is helpful, but many successful candidates come from a background in ICU, PCU and/or surgery.

Inpatient RNs at Fresenius Medical Care perform dialysis treatments on an acute patient population in a hospital setting, including ICU, ER, Rehab, and Med/Surg units. What makes this role truly unique is the level of autonomy you’ll enjoy. Inpatient nurses are specifically accountable for administering and assessing each patient’s treatment plan. And because dialysis is a critical treatment for many hospital procedures and health conditions, you’ll have the opportunity to work with a wide variety of patients. Ideal candidates possess leadership skills and independence needed to make quick decisions in a fast-paced environment. Must be capable of educating patients and providing exceptional customer service to our partners. Six months to one year of dialysis experience or some form of critical care nursing experience are also required.

Job Description

PURPOSE AND SCOPE:
This position manages/directs the daily operations of several Regional Medical Practice Offices within a designated geographic location. Oversees the office operations, including billing, coding, payroll, and other related office functions.   Manages the workflow in the individual group practice offices to ensure compliance, efficiency, and patient satisfaction.  Ensures that all established policies and procedures are followed within the practice(s).  Defines job requirements for the staff employees. Has responsibility for hiring and terminating staff employees.  Attends Physician staff meetings as deemed necessary. Handles the Payroll for all staff employees in all practices. Engages in Market Development activities, as necessary. Responsible for ensuring compliance with all federal and local laws and meets any regulatory or certification requirements to maintain business and clinical operations.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Accountable for developing and implementing the client’s mission and strategic plan.
  • Develops and updates the practices’ organizational designs for maximum productivity and control of quality and costs.
  • Responsible for managing the business operations in several Regional Medical Practice Offices within a designated geographic area.
  • Manages the office operations, which will include billing, coding, insurance verifications, Accounts Payable, and other related operational functions directly related to the operations of the Regional Office (s).
  • Manages the workflow within the office(s), ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and adherence to medical compliance regulations.
  • Contract management of fee schedules including negotiation with third party payers.
  • Oversees the hiring and termination of all office employees. Interviews candidates for open positions and recommends new hires.
  • Ensures that all staff employees understand the requirements of their positions.  Assists in training employees, as needed.
  • Analyzes and resolves problems and/or issues regarding physicians, employees, or patients.
  • Responsible for ensuring efficient and effective deployment of physician and mid-level providers through a structured schedule.
  • Coordinates the recruitment, contract negotiation, and credentialing of new providers.
  • Plans and organizes additional educational meetings for staff.
  • May assist in the development of operating plans and budgets as directed.
  • Attends management meetings, as directed.
  • Must be willing to travel within the assigned geographical locations that this position is held responsible.
  • Monitors compliance with established internal controls for cash management and audit compliance, including a compliance payroll.  Responsible for ensuring that all employees are paid in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Serves as the primary spokesperson for the staff and promotes effective communication throughout the practice.
  • Supports daily activities of an effective information technology plan that incorporates the unique needs of the practice in the areas of electronic health records, practice management, security, document storage, internet access, telecommunications, e-mail, and other required interfaces with other providers.
  • Oversees purchase and inventory systems for supplies and equipment.
  • Evaluates staffing and patient flow patterns to maximize provider productivity.
  • Manages incident-reporting system.
  • Assists in the business development activities of growing the Physician Practice business by attending local Office Council Network meetings to ensure that the local communities are aware of the advantages of the Physician Practices in their areas.  Responsible for other market development activities as assigned.
  • Assist with various projects as assigned.
  • Other duties as assigned

SUPERVISION:
May be responsible for the direct supervision of various levels of staff within assigned Physician Practice Regional Office.

EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required with a preferred major in a related field;
  • Strong preference for post-graduate education or degree in Health Care or Business Administration
  • Experience in Physician Practice Management or Operations will be considered in lieu of educational requirements.

EXPERIENCE AND REQUIRED SKILLS:

  • 6 – 8 years’ related experience.
  • 3+ years’ experience as a Manager preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage one or more departments.
  • Must have experience working with billing systems including coding, insurance verifications and other medical related systems.
  • Payroll experience is required
  • Requires high degree of initiative, judgment, discretion, decision-making, and self-direction to accomplish multiple goals of practices.
  • Proven IT skills, including, Excel, Micro Soft Word.
  • Strong knowledge of technology interfaces, such as electronic health records, security, document storage, internet access, telecommunications, and other required interfaces with external providers.
  • Strong organization and communication skills. Ability to lead and motivate staff, resolve conflicts and to create a collegial environment.
  • Ability to delegate.
  • Strong people management skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to multi-task.
  • Experience in market development a plus.
