PURPOSE AND SCOPE:

Utilizes in-depth knowledge of strategic planning and financial/market analysis to assist the business unit. Provides analytical support, focus, and creates business plans for division initiatives. Researches and performs complex analysis of potential business opportunities consistent with the company's short and long range objectives and strategic plans.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:  

  • Utilizes extensive knowledge and expertise regarding the business to conduct critical market research, data collection, and multifaceted analyses to justify long and short range programs and plans.
  • Acts as a subject matter expert on strategic market, forecasting, valuation, and complex accounting scenarios.
  • Works closely with other teams to maintain databases and incorporate changes as a result of compliance policy changes and business requirements.
  • Evaluates projects through financial feasibility studies and market research, collaborating with external advisors and internal/company management and personnel to manage strategic initiative implementation projects, as directed.
  • Assists with translating quantitative and qualitative analyses into actionable strategies.
  • Assists in identifying potential business opportunities with a global focus. Develops business models and determines market trends to substantiate long-term global prospects.
  • Generates business planning models to develop strategies and presents findings.
  • Creates and drafts write-ups and presentation materials for presentation.
  • Assists in the due diligence process as directed.
  • Provides training and guidance to lower level staff through indirect reporting structure with more complex tasks that require a higher level of understanding of functions.
  • Mentors other staff as applicable.
  • May escalate issues to supervisor/manager for resolution, as deemed necessary.
  • Builds productive internal/external working relationships.
  • Develops professional expertise.
  • Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION:

Bachelor's Degree required; Advanced Degree desirable.

EXPERIENCE AND REQUIRED SKILLS:         

  • Minimum 5 - 8 years of related experience; or a Master's degree with 3 years of experience.
  • Planning and Analysis experience required.
  • Business Development exposure from evaluation through integration and implementation.
  • Demonstrate ability to directly interact with various FMCNA stakeholders including physicians.
  • Ability to function as a strong member of a highly motivated and integrated organization team.
  • Strong oral and written communication and exceptional interpersonal skills required.
  • Proficient with PCs and Microsoft Office applications.

ADDENDUM:

Physician Contracting focus

  • Documents all negotiations, including internal and external discussions and enters all executed and renegotiated data.
  • Oversees a comprehensive Medical Director Agreement (MDA) database including information obtained from Corporate Development, Business Planning & Analysis, Finance and the Legal Department. Utilizes up-to-date understanding and knowledge of regulatory changes and implications pertaining to medical director qualifications and expectations to maintain the MDA database to ensure accurate and efficient collection and disbursement of physician contract data.
  • Utilizes Medical Director Contracting model system (MDC) to ensure executed agreements reflect corresponding data.
  • Experience in working with physician's contracts and ability to read through contracts is a plus.
  • Tracks all expiring and reopener agreements to ensure timely negotiation prior to expiration dates, works with negotiators on providing updates for status report and making sure they are completed.
  • Assists with translating quantitative and qualitative analyses into actionable strategies. Analyses including but not limited to:
  • Comparative analysis between new and former agreements to determine compensation cost and savings results.
  • Bridge analysis from current to future years to determine necessary steps and agreements needed to achieve projected results.
  • Strategic market analysis; looking proactively at groups in specific markets and helping negotiators determine best course of action based on certain competitive and market factors.
  • Provides compensation analysis reports to senior staff with alerts regarding contracts up for renewal or renegotiation, and for tracking costs vs. savings throughout the calendar year.
  • Produces quarterly report containing all expiration dates and compensation analyses for business owners. 

Non-Core Acquisitions focus

  • Executes and oversees the Planning and Analysis for Non-Core Acquisitions group, which includes but is not limited to:
  • Acquisition deal tracking, providing bridge analysis for variances in model versus actual results.
  • Part of large non-core deal team, providing pipeline and growth analysis to meet budgets.
  • Strategic market by market analysis, inclusive of all non-core businesses in planning and analysis to partner with right practice groups and hospital systems.
  • Creation of database/analytical tool to drive all Planning and Analysis.
  • Utilizes data and engages in comprehensive and complex data analyses and modeling to evaluate the status and viability of current initiatives and programs.
  • Utilizes external data in data-rooms, forming conclusions and questions around data.
  • Manages projects related to the implementation of strategic initiatives to identify resources, establish timelines and milestones to ensure successful execution. Identifies key performance indicators and measures to evaluate strategic projects and initiatives making recommendations for improvement opportunities.

Joint Ventures focus

  • Runs the vetting process for the JV group, finalizing decisions on the financial and strategic viability of potential JV deals.
  • Presents financial pro formas, returns, loan information to the potential JV partner, as needed by senior management.
  • Lead analyst on ad hoc analytical initiatives.

Core Acquisitions focus

  • Oversees acquisition deal tracking, providing bridge analysis for variances in model versus actual results.
  • Works with deal team, providing pipeline and growth analysis to meet budgets.
  • Utilizes data and engages in comprehensive and complex data analyses and modeling to evaluate the status and viability of current initiatives and programs.
  • Manages projects related to the implementation of strategic initiatives to identify resources, establish timelines and milestones to ensure successful execution.
