Director, Sales Training and Education (Remote)

PURPOSE AND SCOPE:

Utilizes wide ranging training and education knowledge and expertise in the life science industry to strategically guide and direct development of educational curricula with intent and purpose to deliver appropriate training to support employees. Maintains responsibility for directing development and training on appropriate curricula to support and drive business goals and initiatives.  Provides direction and guidance to marketing teams with knowledge of clinical expertise and product knowledge.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Directs and controls the broad activities of Training and Education through the interpretation, application, and implementation of company-wide policies and processes appropriate to the functional area.
  • Works directly with field and corporate management, including senior and executive management to design and conduct educational training for regional sales managers, field management, marketing personnel, clinical and medical personnel (where requested), and FMCNA employees on pharmaceutical and dialysis products and services.
  • Works with management to conduct a needs assessment for RTG products and dialysis products to develop educational curricula for RTG personnel including slides and materials appropriate for delivery in workshops and web-based media.  Develops educational programs for highly experienced and knowledgeable audiences, especially nephrologists.
  • Offers training programs for the Medical, Regional Sales Managers who conduct pharmaceutical and dialysis educational programs with customers (clinical nephrology staff).
  • Develops and conducts training updates on products and services as needed at regional and national sales meeting.
  • Responsible for organizing and conducting product training for new RTG executives.
  • Monitors and assists with skill development of the sales staff conducting the sales calls or in-services with customers.
  • Develops patient education and training materials designed to support the training conducted by Regional Sales Managers, or customer staff (Train the Trainer materials) on RTG pharma and dialysis portfolio.
  • Works with Marketing, Marketing Communications, Materials Management, and Regulatory to manage the development of materials from the conception stage to the printing and distribution stage.
  • Conducts new hire training sessions on pharmaceutical and dialysis portfolio.
  • Collaborates with the RTG Medical Office including the Medical Science Liaison and Medical Support Teams to create appropriate on-going clinical education and training for sales forces.
  • Ensures necessary resources and tools are available to sales force and customers regarding product offerings.
  • Provides clinical product support for both current products and those in development, including participation in the management of market preference evaluations.
  • Supports Pharmaceutical Marketing team with clinical in-sight and expertise.
  • Interprets and provides recommendations for change of company-wide policies and practices. Establishes policies appropriate for the function.
  • Interacts with all levels within the organization to manage functional area.  Overall responsibility for hiring, coaching and counseling employees, including performance reviews, disciplinary action and terminations.
  • Attends regional and national conferences as required.
  • Reviews and complies with the Code of Business Conduct and all applicable company policies and procedures, local, state, and federal laws and regulations.
  • Ensures all employees within the assigned team(s) understand and comply with the Code of Business Conduct and all applicable company policies and procedures, local, state and federal laws and regulations; establishing and maintaining effective internal systems and controls to promote compliance.
  • Provides leadership, guidance, and coaching for all direct reports to maintain an engaged and productive workforce; partnering with Human Resources on employee matters.
  • Collaborates with employees in the establishment of clear and concise development plans to ensure succession planning and the advancement of future leaders within the organization.
  • Assist with various projects as assigned.
  • Other duties as assigned.

SUPERVISION:

  • Responsible for the direct supervision of various levels of Training and Education staff.

EDUCATION:

  • Bachelors degree strongly preferred.
  • Training/Education in adult learning theories preferred.

EXPERIENCE AND REQUIRED SKILLS:       

  •  Minimum 10+ years of experience in sales training which includes 5 years in pharmaceuticals or commercial training; 5+ years of experience in management preferred.
  • Strong management skills with the ability to lead cohesive and productive teams.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate with all levels of management through diplomacy and tact.
  • Experience in educational theories.
  • PowerPoint skills required.
  • Experience in organizing and presenting educational programs for nurses/sales force.
  • Ability to prepare and present material/class room trainings on pharmaceutical and dialysis product offerings. Ability to prepare and present material/class room training on the various disease states (anemia, hyperphosphatemia).
  • Ability to effectively communicate with multiple departments.  Ability to coordinate the development and approval process of educational items, working with multiple functional areas including the Windchill approval team.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, writing, and organizational skills a must.
  • Ability to function independently in a fast paced environment, performing multiple tasks and meeting required deadlines.
