PURPOSE AND SCOPE:

Establish technical direction for the Global Platforms that enable our business units to deliver life saving care for our patients.  As a technology leader, you will interface with senior business and other technology leaders to define modern platform architectures and capabilities. You will continuously engage with the implementation teams to ensure adoption of architectural principles and provide guidance for strategic solution designs.  As a servant leader, you will join the various solution implementation teams, ensuring a tangible result of the realized architectural direction that enables the delivery of critical care for the patients we serve. 

ENTERPRISE EXCELLENCE (ERP) PLATFORM:

You will serve as the senior level enterprise architect defining and enabling the Enterprise Excellence Platform for Fresenius Medical Care.  Our Enterprise Excellence Platform comprises of the ERP suite of tools and technologies that enable us to operate our entire global business.  From Product Manufacturing to HR Training Tools, the ERP represents a large set of technologies that is centered around the SAP suite.  We are at the beginning of our ERP Strategy, with some components already in place and in progress, yet much of the future landscape still requires definition.  In addition to our migration to the Cloud, this strategy and role plays a critical role in helping shape the technology future of FMC.  

  • Define strategic reference architecture and roadmap for the for the Enterprise Excellence (ERP) Platform
  • Rationalize the ERP portfolio and align the desired capabilities to the appropriate technology solution
  • Create architectural reference patterns and identified components required to realize overall strategy
  • Collaborating with the other enterprise architects and COEs, to effectively integrate and coordinate roadmaps
  • Provide overall architecture direction to solution architects and engineering teams in line with articulated roadmaps
  • Expertise and deep knowledge of SAP systems (like SAP Business Suite, S/4Hana, SAP Business Warehouse, SAP Hana, SAP Business Objects, etc) required
  • Experience architecting and planning large scale SAP migrations
  • Experience in either AWS and/or Azure platforms
  • Experience architecting environments within the MedTech and Healthcare Delivery industries
  • Experience architecting solutions that run in multiple geographies
  • SAP certifications a plus

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Define and set strategic technology direction for designated platforms in collaboration with business and technology leaders
  • Demonstrate and provide hands on guidance in the implementation of new architectural patterns, enabling a successful path to implementation
  • Bring forward modern architectural patterns, leveraging open source, cloud and key strategic vendor technologies
  • Create strategic value and accelerated delivery of our care solutions through a Platform/Product oriented framework
  • Enable solutions that realize iterative value while directionally achieving future state vision
  • Partner with Business Partners and COE leaders to create the best aligned solution for the enterprise
  • Mentor technologists and provide active guidance/collaboration with team members
  • Contribute in the establishment of the organization’s architecture framework in design, process and technology standardization
  • Actively collaborate in the leading and execution of the platform development cycles
  • Actively participate and engage with strategic vendors and external technology landscape to maintain our competitive advantage
  • Scout new technologies and patterns, creating POCs and demonstrating immediate value
  • Ensure solutions meet/exceed required local compliance and regulatory rules
  • Consider and address global and regional requirements
  • Review and comply with the Code of Business Conduct and all applicable company policies and procedures, local, state and federal laws and regulations.
  • Supervision of Solution Architects, providing overall direction and guidance for solutions within the target portfolio
  • Performs other duties as assigned

SUPERVISION:

  • Reporting to the Global Head, Strategy & Architecture

EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required; Advanced Degree preferred

EXPERIENCE AND REQUIRED SKILLS:  

  • Minimum of 15 years’ related experience with a Bachelor’s degree; or a Master’s degree with 8 years’ experience; or a PhD with 5 years’ experience; or equivalent directly related work experience.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, expectation management and training skills, consistently meeting the specific needs of various client groups, project teams, and target audiences.
  • 8 years experience serving in a senior architect role
  • Minimum 4 years of experience with a major cloud vendor (AWS, Azure, or GCP), certification a plus
  • Minimum 3 years of experience architecting solutions in regulated environments
  • At least 3 years of hands on experience developing microservices, leveraging containers and modern DevOps technologies
  • At least 3 years of direct experience leveraging technologies such as Kafka, Serverless and other modern application architectures
  • At least 3 years of direct management experience
  • Ability to bring forward new technologies and patterns and apply them into the organization
  • Proficiency in agile methodology
  • Demonstrated experience communicating complex architects and roadmaps to senior business leadership
  • Experience in healthcare industry preferred, but not required
  • Ability to self start and effectively operate within a complex, dynamic environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence cross functionally in a matrix management environment.
  • Must be able to facilitate meetings to resolve issues/problems with a win/win result.
