Job Summary: As a Dialysis Technician, you will be responsible for operating and maintaining dialysis equipment, assisting patients during dialysis treatments, and ensuring a safe and comfortable environment. Your primary goal is to provide high-quality care to patients with renal failure or chronic kidney disease.
Key Responsibilities:
Operate Dialysis Equipment: Set up and calibrate hemodialysis machines according to prescribed procedures. Monitor and adjust machine settings during dialysis treatment to ensure proper functioning.
Assist Patients: Help patients prepare for dialysis sessions by explaining procedures, answering questions, and addressing concerns. Monitor patients' vital signs before, during, and after treatment.
Monitor Treatment: Observe patients during dialysis treatments for any adverse reactions or complications. Notify healthcare providers of any abnormalities or changes in patients' conditions.
Provide Emotional Support: Offer emotional support and reassurance to patients undergoing dialysis treatments. Create a supportive and empathetic environment to help patients feel comfortable and cared for.
Maintain Cleanliness: Follow strict infection control protocols to maintain a clean and sterile dialysis environment. Disinfect equipment and dialysis stations between patient treatments to prevent cross-contamination.
Document Patient Information: Record accurate and detailed information about patients' dialysis treatments, vital signs, and any observed reactions or symptoms. Maintain thorough documentation for each patient's medical record.
Collaborate with Healthcare Team: Communicate effectively with nurses, physicians, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care and ensure treatment plans are followed correctly. Participate in team meetings to discuss patient progress and any issues or concerns.
Continuing Education: Stay updated on advances in dialysis technology, techniques, and regulations through ongoing training and professional development opportunities. Maintain certification and licensure requirements as mandated by state regulations.
