Job Description

Primary Purpose:

  • This role oversees the demand & supply planning and overall demand fulfilment processes, including the creation of demand projections, capacity planning, and fulfilment planning activities
  • This position is a key driver in creating and managing the true customer/consumer demand signals by which the organisation aligns supply chain and company resources. The demand planner is tasked with using data insights to improve forecast accuracy. This person is a hands-on worker who will drive the creation of a demand forecast and work with other functional teams.

Key Responsibilities / Accountabilities:

  • Manage statistical forecast exceptions by utilising demand-planning exception reports to identify and fix potential issues.
  • Collect past/future demand factors (distribution gains/losses, price changes, new/discontinued products and promotion plans, for example) from sales and marketing and forecast/model their impacts on demand.
  • Escalate identified critical areas of supply where future shortages may occur.
  • Ensure accuracy of all Material Master Data such as lead times, purchase price and ensure any changes occur.
  • Recommend shipping method changes with associated costs for immediate issues and mid-term improvements.
  • Determine and communicate forecast range, with consensus demand, potential upside opportunity and downside risk, to the demand management.
  • Develop, monitor and communicate reports on changes and forecast accuracy to business unit and supply chain organizations, while driving continuous improvement.
  • Make recommendations to enhance business processes and identify opportunities to improve operational efficiencies.
  • Adhere and keep updated on all policies and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Competencies (attitude, skills, typical qualifications and experience):

  • Requires knowledge of Supply Chain Concepts, preferably specializing in Planning.
  • Excel skills at an intermediate level
  • The ability to maintain and increase process efficiency by analyzing and reporting available data
  • Requires a basic knowledge of relevant business nature and practices in a professional field.
  • Systems skills including Excel, PowerPoint, SAP
